The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are rather fascinating. Not because they
have Johnny Depp, although that is true, or Orlando Bloom, but because the
story has a strong origin regarding its plots and its characters which give an insight into pirate lore. Not to undermine their acting endeavours or anything. I think that Johnny Depp's depiction of Jack Sparrow is remarkable. He carries it off so well, i mean: his quirky ways, his ego, his accent and the pathetic running; he is adorable. The movies have such a deep story: Calypso, Davy Jones' locker, the 882 Aztec gold coins that have been cursed, and their implications.
The movies have a past, fantastical and yet, believable.
